O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

Vinarija Gaia&Rey počela je s radom 1983. godine u spomen Gaine bake Clotilde Rey i nje same.

Angelo Gaja, the son of winery founder Giovanni Gaja, began working at the family winery in 1961 after completing his oenology studies in Alba and Montpellier. Angelo often emphasizes the importance of his experience in the import business, which gave him access to knowledge of world wineries and winemaking. Inspired by modern and traditional wine production in France, in the 1960s he began to apply his experience in family winemaking. He introduced aging in barrel barrels, French bottles, and longer corks. In the process, he independently set Barbarescu as one of the world’s most important wine regions. In 1996, the Gaia family bought the Ca ‘Marcanda property in Bolgheri to gain knowledge and experience in the production of world Tuscan wines. Gaia Gaja started working in the family winery after finishing her studies and today she is involved in all aspects of family business and wineries. The Gaia & Rey winery began operations in 1983 in memory of Gaia’s grandmother Clotilde Rey and herself.
