CHATEAU FIGEAC

788,00

Atraktivna, duboka, svijetla, ljubičasta boja. Izrazit, zračno lagan nos vodi do svježine i aromatičnosti Figeaca, praćen cvjetnim notama koje se skladno miješaju s nijansama voća i potkrijepljene su aromama crnog ribiza i malina. Nepce je izražajno i živo, čistim snažnim ulazom, omotačem i baršunastim srednjim nepcem, te svježim, mršavim završetkom popraćenim taninima finoće i mineralnosti. Veličinu ove berbe utjelovljuje nevjerojatan sklad između okruglog i razvikanog Merlota, svježeg i elegantnog Cabernet Franca i nježnog Cabernet Sauvignona s teksturom čipke. Chateau Figeac 2018 ovdje donosi savršeni akord iz svoje poznate tri sorte grožđa.
An attractive, deep, bright, purple color. An expressive, air-light nose leads on to Figeac freshness and aromatics, followed by floral notes mingling harmoniously with nuances of fruit and underpinned by aromas of blackcurrants and raspberries. The palate is expressive and vibrant, by a clean powerful entry, an enveloping and velvety mid-palate, and a fresh, lean finish accompanied by tannins of a finesse and minerality. The greatness of this vintage is embodied by the amazing harmony between the round and eveloping Merlot, the fresh and elegant Cabernet Franc, and the lace-textured, tender Cabernet Sauvignon. The Chateau Figeac 2018 delivers here the perfect chord from its famous three grape varieties.

REGIJA / REGION

Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France and is home to the world’s most famous winemakers. It has a century-old tradition, and the wines of Bordeaux were enjoyed by the ancient Romans. There are 14,000 wine producers and 117,514 hectares of vineyards around the city of Bordeaux.

The region is close to the Gironde River and the Atlantic Ocean, which is why it has a maritime climate. The ocean and river bring mild winters and warm summers and long sunny autumns. The region is protected from strong ocean winds with a dense pine forest that runs parallel to the region. Due to the river and ocean, the region has calcareous soil with clay and sand, which is an extremely suitable soil for growing vines.

Bordeaux is best known for its red wines and noble sweet wines, but high-quality white wines are not far behind. Bordeaux red wines have a unique expression of the region that is recognizable all over the world. The most common black varieties that are grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec. The most common white varieties are Sauvignon blanc, Semilion and Muscadelle. The classification of Bordeaux wines began in 1855. The Bordeaux vineyards are divided into five regions; Entre-Deux-Mers, Libournais, Bourgeais-Blayais, Gravec and Medoc.

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY
Château Figeac is a property in the Saint-Émilion appellation of Bordeaux. The grand vin is known for its rich nose, silky texture and elegance, and for its aging potential in better vintages. It was rated as Premier Grand Cru Classé in the 1955 Saint-Émilion Classification. Figeac is generally regarded as having markedly improved since World War II under the ownership of Thierry Manoncourt, and has become one of the most sought-after Right Bank Bordeaux reds. There has been an estate on the site since Roman times, although the vineyard was much larger until sections were sold off in the 19th Century, including those that expanded Cheval Blanc in 1832. The current vineyard is, nevertheless, among the largest in Saint-Émilion at 99 acres (40ha). There are three gravel outcrops, which explains the unusually high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (about 35 percent each) in a typical bottle of Figeac. Merlot, usually dominant in this region, accounts for the remaining 30 percent. In 1945, Château Figeac was one of the first Bordeaux estates to introduce a second wine, La Grange Neuve de Figeac, named after a particular plot in the estate. Since 2012, however, the second wine has been Petit-Figeac, made from various selections of vines across the wider estate. Other wine labels containing the word "Figeac" are not related to this estate. The grapes are vinified in a variety of small vessels, either conical, open-topped wooden vats or stainless steel tanks, which correspond to specific lots in the vineyard. The grand vin is aged in 100-percent new oak barrels, while Petit-Figeac is typically aged is for 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, 20 percent of which are new. Approximately 100,000 bottles of the grand vin are produced annually, with about 40,000 of Petit Figeac.
