MARCHESI ANTINORI, SOLAIA

558,10

Solaia 2017 je intenzivna, duboke rubin crvene boje. Impresivno na nos s intenzivnim notama tamnog, zrelog voća s mirisima kupina, crnog ribiza s balzamičnim primjesima svježe metvice i mirte. Njegov buket upotpunjuju profinjeni začinski mirisi bijelog papra, preprženog cimeta i kakaa u prahu.

Solaia 2017 is an intense, deep ruby red color. Its nose is impressive with intense notes of dark, ripe fruit with scents of blackberries, black currants with balsamic hints of fresh mint and myrtle. Its bouquet is completed by refined spicy aromas of white pepper, toasted cinnamon and cocoa powder. Its palate is rich and mouth-filling; soft, velvety, vibrant tannins impart a lengthy finish and persistent aftertaste where toasty notes reappear and accent the finish. The 2017 vintage will be remembered for its unusual weather conditions, marked by lower yields and relatively dry climate trends.  In vintages as peculiar as this one, experience and a thorough understanding of the vineyard play an even more important role.  If the 2016 vintage is timid and introverted, Solaia 2017 expresses right away its outgoing personality. Rich, intense and mouth-filling it preserves the elegance and balance that have always defined Solaia’s unique style.

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

Obitelj Antinori predana je vinarskoj umjetnosti više od šest stoljeća od 1385. godine, kada je Giovanni di Piero Antinori postao članom “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri”, Firentinskog ceha vinara. Tijekom 26 generacija obitelj Antinori osobno je vodila posao, donoseći inovativne i ponekad hrabre odluke, pridržavajući se krajnjeg poštivanja tradicije i okoliša. Svaka berba, svaka parcela zemljišta, svaka nova ideja koju treba unaprijediti novi je početak, nova težnja za postizanjem viših standarda kvalitete Kao što Marchese Piero voli reći: „Drevni obiteljski korijeni igraju važnu ulogu u našoj filozofiji, ali nikada nisu ometali naš inovativni duh. ”

The Antinori family has been committed to the art of winemaking for over six centuries since 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became a member of the “Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri,” the Florentine Winemakers’ Guild. For 26 generations, the Antinori family has personally managed the business, making innovative and sometimes bold decisions while upholding the utmost respect for traditions and the environment. Each vintage, each plot of land, each new idea to be advanced is a new beginning, a new pursuit for achieving higher quality standards. As Marchese Piero loves to say: “Ancient family roots play an important part in our philosophy but they have never hindered our innovative spirit.”

The family’s historical heritage lies in their estates in Tuscany and Umbria. However, over the years they have invested in many other areas, both in Italy and abroad. With these ventures, Antinori has become well-known for producing high-quality wine and opening up new opportunities to appreciate and develop unique new terroirs with great winemaking potential. Today, Albiera Antinori is the president of Marchesi Antinori with the continuous close support of her two sisters, Allegra and Alessia, all actively involved in first person in the business. Their father, Marchese Piero Antinori, is the current Honorary President of the company. Tradition, passion, and intuition are the three driving forces that led Marchesi Antinori to establish itself as one of the most important winemakers of elite Italian wine.

The Tenuta Tignanello estate is in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the gently rolling hillsides between the Greve and Pesa river valleys. It extends over an area of 319 hectares (788 acres), of which 130 (321 acres) are dedicated to vines. Two of the estate’s prized vineyards are on the same hillside, Tignanello and Solaia, on soils that originated from marine marlstone from the Pliocene period rich in limestone and schist. The vines enjoy hot temperatures during the day and cooler evenings throughout the growing season. The estate’s two signature wines, Solaia and Tignanello, are produced from these vineyards and have been defined by the international press as “among the most influential wines in the history of Italian viticulture”. According to Marchesi Antinori, Solaia and Tignanello are an ongoing challenge and a never-ending passion. The Tignanello estate has vineyards of indigenous Sangiovese grapes as well as some other untraditional varieties such as Cabernet Franc.

The sunniest part of the Tignanello’s hillside is home to the Solaia vineyard. The very best grapes from the very best vineyard. All the rest is passion, the utmost care and research. These are the secrets of Solaia together with the finest Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese grapes from its namesake vineyard. Solaia is a 50 acre (20 hectare) vineyard with a southwestern exposure located at an altitude between 1150 and 1325 feet (350-400 meters) above sea level and with a stony soil of “alberese” (hard limestone) and “galestro” (flaky calcareous clay) rock. The Antinori family produced this wine for the first time in the year 1978, and the initial blend was 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc, a formula repeated in 1979 as well. In the following years, 20% of Sangiovese was introduced and certain adjustments were also made in the rapport between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc until the current blend was settled upon. Solaia is produced only in exceptional vintage, and was not produced in 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984, and 1992.
