LE DRAGON DE QUINTUS ROUGE, 2021

105,00

Lijepa, umjereno duboka rubin boja.

A lovely, moderately deep ruby colour.  It is fruity and ripe on the nose, with aromas of pomegranate and flowers.  Delicately woody, the first taste is soft and gentle.  The wine develops on perceptible, tannins full of flavour, it is moderately full and long, but always with a very pleasant flavour of red fruit.  Le Dragon is a wine of pleasure.

Opis

Le Dragon de Quintus is the second wine of Château Quintus. The name originates from the dragon statue that towers above the magical terroir of Saint-Emilion, perched high upon the promontory, where the estate is located.

REGIJA

REGIJA

Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France and is home to the world’s most famous winemakers. It has a century-old tradition, and the wines of Bordeaux were enjoyed by the ancient Romans. There are 14,000 wine producers and 117,514 hectares of vineyards around the city of Bordeaux.

The region is close to the Gironde River and the Atlantic Ocean, which is why it has a maritime climate. The ocean and river bring mild winters and warm summers and long sunny autumns. The region is protected from strong ocean winds with a dense pine forest that runs parallel to the region. Due to the river and ocean, the region has calcareous soil with clay and sand, which is an extremely suitable soil for growing vines.

Bordeaux is best known for its red wines and noble sweet wines, but high-quality white wines are not far behind. Bordeaux red wines have a unique expression of the region that is recognizable all over the world. The most common black varieties that are grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec. The most common white varieties are Sauvignon blanc, Semilion and Muscadelle. The classification of Bordeaux wines began in 1855. The Bordeaux vineyards are divided into five regions; Entre-Deux-Mers, Libournais, Bourgeais-Blayais, Gravec and Medoc.

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

This wine will take its natural place as an equal with the red and white wines Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion, thus becoming the fifth child in this famous family. The Gallo-Romans, the creators of the Saint-Emilion vineyard, used to name their fifth child Quintus (fifth). Therefore, Domaine Clarence Dillon decided to pay tribute to his famous predecessors by re-christening this growth Château Quintus. 5 (V) a number which characterizes this estate by its slopes and plots of vine extending towards the four cardinal directions and leaning in front of the very sky which farmers look at daily to see what the heavens have at their disposal. The ancient Tour de Guet and even further back, in Celtic times, the oppidum (defended fortress of the hill) on a plateau overlooking Saint Emilion, almost certainly in that same place were the inspiration for other vineyards, Le Dragon de Quintus – a mythical creature standing as a guardian and protector of his treasure, a spectacular terroir. A new bottle shape specifically designed for Quintus was introduced, modeled on those used by Château Haut-Brion in the mid-19th century, and recently excavated in a pirate den on the island of Mayotte, in the Indian Ocean. Like their predecessors, these bottles have a built-in seal engraved in the glass.
