U bijeloj zemlji najbolje uspijevaju bijele sorte, dajući svježa i aromatična vina.Istarski pitomi brežuljci blagih padina pogoduju uzgoju vinove loze, dok veće oscilacije između dnevnih i noćnih temperatura dodatno naglašavaju intenzitet mirisa budućeg vina.

The history of winemaking in Istria is thousands of years long. The ancient Phoenicians and Greeks brought vines to the green peninsula, and the then indigenous Histrians successfully mastered the art of growing this noble plant. Istrian wines have a special taste due to the natural features of this region – the type of soil, relief and specific climate created at the place where the alpine and Mediterranean air meet. There are two types of soil on the Istrian peninsula – red soil along the coast and clayey, white soil in the interior. Experts say that red wine is perfect for plantations of red varieties that produce heavier, more intense wines. In the white soil, white varieties thrive best, giving fresh and aromatic wines. Istrian gentle hills with gentle slopes favor the cultivation of vines, while greater oscillations between day and night temperatures further emphasize the intensity of the aroma of future wine. In 2015, the prestigious Wine Enthusiast declared Istria one of the ten most desirable destinations for wine lovers. The same flattering title was awarded to Istria in 2016 by experts from European Best Destinations.

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

Zaštićena malim brežuljkom s juga sprječava pretjeranu vlagu i sprječava bolest, otvorena na sve druge suhe vjetrove omogućava lozi dug i zdrav život i jake arome.

Quality of life in harmony with the nature that surrounds and protects it – is the foundation of Meneghetti philosophy. A significant fruit of the Istrian land, a territory unique in its diversity, is certainly the vine, its clusters and their liquid core. Leaning on tradition, but with a large investment in knowledge and development, open to modern world technologies, they produce wines that reflect the character of Istria, which at the same time with its character and quality exceeds its borders. In addition to indigenous, they grow international varieties to which the local territory, characteristic land and environment full of Mediterranean vegetation give a specialty. Therefore, in order to provide the varieties with an optimal substrate, the vine is grown in two locations. The “red earth” (terre rosse) around Stancia Meneghetti at the position of Val Gambalera in Bale is a strong and poor country, richer in stone than earth, intense and mineral, rich in iron which gives it not only a specific shade of red, intense and playful, but also unique fertility. This red earth breathes the air from the sea, the scent of the Mediterranean macchia in its immediate vicinity and surroundings, and is especially suitable for red grape varieties. Protected by a small hill from the south prevents excessive moisture and prevents disease, open to all other dry winds allows the vine a long and healthy life and strong aromas. “White lands” in the position of Kršin-Ferna near Buje, a land made of Eocene marls, is the mother of our white wines. In this part of Istria, the soil is characteristically gray and white due to the high proportion of clay and is especially suitable for white grape varieties that give unique wines of exceptional taste and fragrant elegance. All their vineyards are cultivated in an environmentally sustainable way, with deep respect for nature, using the Simonit & Sirch method. Pruning is soft, always manual, with the aim of preserving the plant to experience old age.
