U bijeloj zemlji najbolje uspijevaju bijele sorte, dajući svježa i aromatična vina.Istarski pitomi brežuljci blagih padina pogoduju uzgoju vinove loze, dok veće oscilacije između dnevnih i noćnih temperatura dodatno naglašavaju intenzitet mirisa budućeg vina.

The history of winemaking in Istria is thousands of years long. The ancient Phoenicians and Greeks brought vines to the green peninsula, and the then indigenous Histrians successfully mastered the art of growing this noble plant. Istrian wines have a special taste due to the natural features of this region – the type of soil, relief and specific climate created at the place where the alpine and Mediterranean air meet. There are two types of soil on the Istrian peninsula – red soil along the coast and clayey, white soil in the interior. Experts say that crvenica is perfect for plantations of red varieties that produce heavier, more intense wines. White varieties thrive best in white soil, producing fresh and aromatic wines. Istrian gentle hills with gentle slopes favor the cultivation of vines, while larger oscillations between day and night temperatures further emphasize the intensity of the aroma of future wine. In 2015, the prestigious Wine Enthusiast declared Istria one of the ten most desirable destinations for wine lovers. The same flattering title was awarded to Istria in 2016 by experts from European Best Destinations.

O VINARIJI / ABOUT THE WINERY

Obitelj Coronica posjeduje dvadesetak  hektara vinograda poznatom vinorodnom lokalitetu  «Grande bosco».  U svojim vinogradima na zemlji crvenici, također zvanoj i terra rossa, uzgajaju autohtone sorte: malvaziju istarsku i teran.

The Coronica family has nurtured the right approach to the vine and the wine from which they live for four generations. However, a more serious approach was started by Moreno’s grandmother and father. The vineyards of the Coronica family are located near the Istrian town of Umag on the northwest coast of Istria. The Coronica family owns about twenty hectares of vineyards to the famous wine-growing locality “Grande bosco”. In their vineyards on the land of Crvenica, also called terra rossa, they grow autochthonous varieties: Istrian Malvasia and Teran.
